CANUCKS CHANGING STRATEGY AFTER AN UNEXPECTED START?

With Garland playing the best hockey he's played since the Canucks acquired him, along with the team's success, the chances of him being traded away are fading.


Knowing that the team's who are most likely going to be looking to sell are either retooling or rebuilding. The Analyst Satiar Shah stated that team's would rather be looking at young NHL-ready players rather than contract dumps and picks. Therefore making Vasily Podkolzin and Nils Hoglander the Canucks' most valuable pieces, but also the players that are the most likely to be shipped out:



A small format winger with a high-end puck skills and tenacity, Hoglander has yet to find his niche with the Canucks. He's been, however, showing steady improvement under the direction of the team's new coaching staff and has managed 6 points through 15 games in a 4th line role and near to no powerplay time.

There's definitely a good player in Hoglander, but if Allvin intends on going hard this year, he may just be this team's most valuable trading assets. He's surely be derogating from his original plan that intended on building around players his age to start off a young and developing core. If it meant giving a better chance at making a steeper playoff run or even going for a Cup run, would agree to liquidate Hoglander to improve the roster right now?
