LATEST | Announcement regarding one of the Canucks' prospect
The announcement has just been made, the Canucks' 7th Round Pick in 2020, Viktor Persson, has confirmed that he'll remain in the Liiga (Finland's top league). The 21-year-old has formally completed his first professional season; he collected three assists through 24 games this season, and his role is expected to grow as soon as next year.
Persson is a right-handed shot defenseman who stands at 6'02'' and weighs 192 pounds. He is an intriguing prospect in the Canucks' pipeline, and the scouting reports are quite promising about him:
''There is so much more to Persson's game offensively than his point totals would indicate. A big part of his success comes from his abilities as a distributor. He makes good calls on when to join the rush or play with a more passive posture. Persson maintains a high work rate, with active feet and smart skating patterns, ensuring he's always open to receive a pass.''
It's precisely the type of player that the Canucks can't have enough of, if he's progression continues smoothly, he could be rewarded with a contract over and ultimately follow the same path that Johansson did and join the team in Abbotsford once his European season ends.
