The Canucks' top goaltending prospect was granted the opportunity to represent his nation had the Men's World Championship. The Latvian-born Arturs Silovs stunned the world and wrote a new page in the IIHF history books.

Silovs and his team were playing in the Bronze final against the American powerhouse, the game was tied at 3 and the game was taken to overtime. The Latvian ended up writing history as they won their first-ever medal when Kristian Rubins buried it on Casey DeSmith:







The Canucks issued a statement regarding the tourney's top goaltender and Abbotsford Canucks MVP after their triumph:
