A journalist at Canucks Army made quite the link between the former Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe winner, Ryan O'Reilly, and the Canucks. The Canucks need center depth, a penalty-killer and they definitely wouldn't some experience and leadership. A player of his stature would surely change the way people look at the Canucks roster. With lots of young and inexperienced wingers, he'd make a great addition.
With the latest cup winners, it's become quite clear that depth down the middle is essential to success. He'd definitely be a valuable asset to the team. However, this surely is a financial stretch since the Canucks would need to drop a big chunk of money off their salary cap to even think about making a competitive offer to Ryan O'Reilly.
The 32-year-old sure has a few good years still, but he'll be coming off a 7-year and $52.5M contract, the latest report out of Daily Face-Offs is that O'Reilly could be signing a deal worth $16.5M for the next 3 years. Is this something the Canucks should consider?
