A member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has decided to leave North America and will return to Sweden.

On Thursday, Farjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League announced that they've signed defenceman Carl Dahlstrom to a three-year contract beginning next season.

"I have longed to feel that really genuine team feeling," Dahlstrom said.

He added, "It's nice to have stability - to know that you will be in one place for a long time. It's easy to feel unsettled over there (in North America) because there can be a trade or you could be put on waivers. I got to experience both things over there. Therefore, it will be nice, not only for my partner and my dog but also for myself, to know where we will be."

Dahlstrom, 28, was drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round (51st overall) in 2013 and has spent the last two seasons in the Maple Leafs organization. The Stockholm native has appeared in a total of 67 games in the National Hockey League with Toronto, Winnipeg and Chicago, recording 12 assists and 14 penalty minutes.
