Yesterday, TSN held an insider trading session with the renowned hockey Insiders Pierre Lebrun, Darren Dreger and Chris Johnston. The latter dropped an important piece of information regarding the Stanley Cup winners and Russian Players.

No Cup at home for Russians

The League officially announced that Russian players would be prohibited from taking the Stanley Cup to their native country for the standard ritual where players are allowed 24 hours with the cup. The NHL was categoric; no cup would be going to Russia this summer.

Meaning that notable player like Sergei Bobrovsky for the Panthers, or Ivan Barbashev, won't be able to share their winning with their family and friends back home:

Only days prior to the draft, when prospects are already falling down in the draft for being Russian (Matvei Michkov), could this add fire to an already existing issue? Could young Russians decide to remain in the KHL for decisions of this sort?
