The Oilers are looking to take their game to the next step and they're definitely in the market for a defenseman and everybody is well aware of it.

When you have players like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Darnell Nurse who make up 37% of the cap it's hard to find balance in your line-up since you got to have 23 signed contracts. When you have the possibility to acquire an experienced player, whose play was described as ''playoff perfect'', certainly makes you think, so should Ken Holland.

Luke Schenn would be an excellent addition to the Oilers' group. He was part of the back-to-back cup runs the Lightning had in 2020 and 2021 and carries the lowest AAV of all the available options out there. On top of everything, he's a UFA on July 1st.

The Canucks on their end are just on verge of giving up on playoffs hope and opening their phones to the seller mode. They will certainly gather lots of interest Luke Schenn, Bo Horvat and Andrei Kuzmenko are all names that will gather lots of interest amongst top contending teams.

The price for a hard-playing defenseman like Luke Schenn is known to be somewhere in the high picks. If Rutherford and Allvin can get a late first-round pick or a second-round pick, should they move the veteran defenseman?

It's common knowledge across the league and the team that Luke is very appreciated by both the organization and the fans. It was confirmed by his agent as well that he really loved Vancouver. Since Schenn will be back in free agency coming into the 2023-2024 season, should they move him, give him a shot at another cup and pursue his services when he hits free agency?
