The Washington Capitals might be looking to move on from a former first-round pick they acquired just over two years ago.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Washington Capitals have informed teams around the National Hockey League that Mantha is on the trade block and available.

"The Capitals have let teams know that they're ready to move on from Mantha," Seravalli said. "They're likely going to have to attach a sweetener to that deal."

Mantha, 28, has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $5.7 million. His cap hit is pretty high for his production and it might scare some teams off. Seravalli went on to add that if the Capitals are unable to find a trade partner, then it's possible he could have his contract bought out.

In 67 games this season, the Longueuil (Quebec) native had 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists), 31 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight.
