Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov exposed some hate messages he received on social media after an incident in Tuesday night's game.

Nikita Zadorov one month into his second season as a member of the Boston Bruins after signing with the club as a free agent in July 2024, but he still has plenty of love for the Vancouver Canucks organization and their fans.
"Those were probably the coolest six months of my career. It's a blast to play hockey there. The fans are awesome, the city is cool, the team is cool, too. The team, the coaching staff - everything was super everywhere you look, there's a Hall of Famer." Zadorov said earlier this year.

He added, "When Sergei Gonchar came in, he worked a lot with all the defensemen individually. I think those six months were a big boost for my career, I changed a lot as a player."

While the Canucks might not have been able to re-sign him, the Boston Bruins have reaped the rewards, with the menacing blueliner bringing a much-needed physical presence to the team, however, his style of play didn't sit too well with New York Islanders fans on Tuesday night, some of whom sent him hateful DMs on social media.

During the second period of Tuesday night's game, Zadorov went after New York Islanders rookie defenseman and 2025 first overall pick Matthew Schaefer, leading to a massive scrum behind the Bruins' net and resulted in the ex-Canuck landing six penalty minutes - four for roughing and two for interference.
"ZADOROV GOES AFTER SCHAEFER AND CHAOS ENSUES"
The Bruins would go on to win the game in a shootout and afterwards when Zadorov opened up Instagram, he noticed that some Islanders fans weren't too pleased with his treatment of Matthew Schaefer.
Several fans sent Zadorov direct messages, some of which were quite hateful, telling him to leave Matthew Schaefer alone, with the Russian defenseman clapping back at them for their lack of support for their team.
"Get out of my DMs and go to the rink to cheer for your team. THAT PLACE WAS A LIBRARY TONIGHT!!!" Zadorov said in an Instagram story.
Despite having a fairly new arena, which opened in November of 2021, the New York Islanders have struggled to fill the building on game nights, with the club averaging 15,182 fans per night, with only the Pittsburgh Penguins, Winnipeg Jets and Utah Mammoth below them.
Zadorov has a point, these fans need to get out and cheer on their team and spend less time messaging a player about an incident that happened in-game that they have zero control over.
