LATEST | Former Canucks forward signs new deal after a successful professional try-out
After spending training camp with the San Jose Sharks on a professional tryout contract, former Vancouver Canucks forward Justin Bailey could not earn a deal and was released, becoming an unrestricted free agent again.
But it looks like Bailey will remain with the San Jose Sharks organization after all. On Wednesday, it was revealed that Bailey has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Sharks' American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
Bailey, 28, spent parts of three seasons with the Canucks organization between the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, appearing in 19 games with Vancouver, but failed to record any points. He also had eight penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
The Buffalo native spent most of his time in Canucks organization playing in the AHL, where he found plenty of success, putting up 47 points in 53 games with Utica in 2019-20 before recording 27 points in 30 games with Abbotsford during the 2021-22 campaign.
So far, Bailey has already appeared in two games for the Barracuda this season and is off to a great start, putting up four points (one goal, three assists), two penalty minutes, and a plus-three.
