Horvat breaks the silence regarding the newest Canucks captain
The Canucks named Quinn Hughes to be Horvat's successor yesterday. Since then, it's all we've been hearing about, especially since it meant that the Canucks we're turning the page on another chapter of their retooling.
Former Canucks captain, Bo Horvat posted twice to his story last night congratulating the newest captain of the Vancouver Canucks. Horvat commented via his Instagram:
"Couldn't have happened to a better person! We deserved @_QuinnHughes happy for you brother..."
Horvat had previously said that he believed that Elias Pettersson should've been his replacement for captain. Before the 2023 All-Star game in Florida, where it would be the last time Horvat and Pettersson would play together. Horvat while fielding questions at media day, stated:
"(Petterson would) be my vote if it came to it and I'm sure one of these days it's going to go on his chest...So, if it does, I couldn't be more happy for him and he's obviously going to be a great captain."
This does not mean he was taking a shot by any means at Hughes, who was assistant captain with Horvat last season. The two shared lots of on-ice success. It is nice to see Horvat be happy for his former teammate.
