When the Canucks selected the Latvian-born goaltender Arturs Silovs in the 6th round of the 2019 Draft, nobody where they were headed with that selection. Today, it's looking like a steal.
Silovs was coming off an 8-11 season in Latvia's top league, where he managed a 0.914 save percentage when the Canucks picked. It's still a project at that point, but he's been blooming since then and has developed into a diamond ever since he came to North America to perfect his game. From the ECHL to the AHL, working alongside the Canucks' goaltending coach Ian Clark, his latest progress has us believing he may just be the next Canucks' starter.
