On Wednesday, Sportico released their 2023 edition of their valuations for all 32 National Hockey League franchises.

Before we dive into what they are worth, here's how Sportico finds out the value of each franchise, which includes using their revenues and speaking with people who have knowledge of each team's finances.

"To derive the fair market value of the 32 NHL franchises, Sportico calculated each team's revenue, relying on publicly available information and financial records—as well as interviews with those knowledgeable of team finances, including nine sports bankers and lawyers who actively work on NHL transactions."

Collectively, all 32 NHL franchises are worth a total of $41.9 billion USD, with the average team worth $1.31 billion USD.

The Vancouver Canucks have dropped two spots from 11th to 13th from the 2022 to 2023 valuation lists. The value of the Vancouver Canucks franchise has gone up 20% over the last year and are currently worth $1.2 billion USD, a $200 million jump from 2022.

Five of the six 'Original Six' franchises sit in the top five of Sportico's list. Toronto leads the way at a valuation of $2.65 billion USD, followed by the New York Rangers in second ($2.45 billion USD), Montreal Canadiens in third ($2.27 billion USD), Chicago Blackhawks in fourth ($1.84 billion USD) and Boston Bruins in fifth ($1.78 billion USD).
