LATEST | OHL makes an announcement involving Canucks prospect Hunter Brzustewicz
With leagues around North America and Europe in full swing, Vancouver Canucks prospects are getting in on the action.
In the Ontario Hockey League, Hunter Brzustewicz, who's playing for the Kitchener Rangers, is having a fantastic start to his 2023-24 season and is among the best players.
Brzustewicz is currently the OHL points leader among defencemen with 13 points in seven games, and on Monday, the league highlighted his hot start with a post on their social media accounts.
"Vancouver Canucks prospect Hunter Brzustewicz is the OHL's early-season scoring leader among defencemen, posting 13 points (4-9--13) over seven games. He's put together three games with at least three points this season."
Brzustewicz's strong start will likely catch the eye of USA Hockey, who are beginning to create a long list of players for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. In recent years, USA Hockey has stayed away from naming CHL players in their World Junior rosters, aside from a few players, but with how Brzustewicz has been playing so far, it may force their hand into having him on the team, which would be the right decision.
The Kitchener Rangers are looking to win their first OHL championship since 2008, and if they're going to have any playoff success in 2024, they'll need Hunter Brzustewicz to be at the top of his game like he is right now.
