LATEST | Sportsnet makes statement about Quinn Hughes: In very elite company
The Vancouver Canucks saw their losing streak come to an end on Saturday night at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 5-2.
Vancouver held the lead after the first period, thanks to goals from
J.T. Miller and
Pius Suter, but the Maple Leafs stormed back in the second and third, scoring four unanswered goals to take the win.
Before the game however, Sportsnet Stats on X, formerly Twitter, made a statement involving captain
Quinn Hughes and he's in some pretty elite company.
In their post, Sportsnet Stats shared that Quinn Hughes is only the second defencemen ever in National Hockey League history to record 20+ points and a rating of plus-15 or higher in a team's first 13 games. The only other defenceman to do so - Bobby Orr, who reached the same feat on three separate occasions.
During their loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Quinn Hughes picked up an assist and now sits at 22 points (five goals, 17 assists), along with eight penalty minutes and is a plus-15 in 14 games.
Hughes and the Canucks will be back in action on Sunday night as they wrap up their three-game road trip against the Montreal Canadiens at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
