Elias Pettersson's decision to hold off on the contract talks caused a mediatic stir. While the Swede mainly withholds to drive his price up and ensure the team's in the right direction, everyone outside of Vancouver seems to believe he's already bought a ticket out.

PETTERSSON LINKED TO THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Chris Gawlik, a reporter from Vegas Hockey Now, believes that the Knights could be a perfect destination for the Superstar Swede. With multiple hefty contracts coming to an end, they'd have the money to sign him to the money he's worth:
"The Canucks are stuck in the murky waters of rebuilding or competing for a low playoff seed in the Western Conference. There is a chance that the Canucks decide to start from scratch.''

"The Golden Knights have their first three round's worth of draft picks for 2024, 2025, and 2026. A package of draft picks and prospects could possibly get a deal done for Pettersson‘'

The report added that the Knights are known to go after Star players who end up on the block. Jack Eichel and Mark Stone are the latest examples; expecting a Matthew Tkachuk-like transaction would only be reasonable.
At this point, this is just every media outside of Vancouver going crazy about a restricted free agent. There are no obvious signs that Pettersson is asking out, and nobody has reported so. As a very competitive and focused athlete, Pettey only tries to eliminate everything that could keep him and the team out of a playoff spot.
