The Canucks still have lots on their plate heading into this year's training camp. The team remains well over the cap, and that's an issue that will need fixing before the season officially kicks off.

ALLVIN WORKING SOMETHING?
Numerous reports have suggested that the Canucks had been working the phone aggressively, but nothing has concluded yet. Tyler Myers has been one name heavily linked to trade talks; on the last year of his hefty deal, he's probably the next piece out for the Canucks.
Moving Myers, though, did raise one concern with the lack of depth on the Canucks' defensive right side. The Canucks added multiple left-handed shot defensemen and Filip Hronek. That's when one of the Canucks' latest signatures come in handy.
Playing with the Canucks during the rookie tournament, Cole McWard showed improvement in his play from last season, and he may be the solution for those 3rd pairing minutes. The young man's play was impressive throughout these three games, and it truly matches what he displayed during the 5-game stint he had last season:
ANOTHER PROSPECT COMING OUT OF NOWHERE?
McWard was an undrafted college free agent whom Allvin convinced out of Ohio State Univ. after only two years. The fact that he's one of the only defensemen with a two-way deal might play against him, especially with the loads of seasoned vets ahead.
