Forward David Kampf recently opened up on why he made the decision to sign with the Vancouver Canucks over other NHL clubs after becoming a free agent.

With injuries piling up and starting to cause issues at the National Hockey League level, the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin were forced to look at external options, both via trade and the free agent market, for forward help.
Allvin was able to complete a deal for Lukas Reichel with the Chicago Blackhawks towards the end of October but that alone wasn't enough, leading the Canucks GM to sign 500+ game NHL veteran David Kampf to a one-year deal just days after his contract was terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"David is a very reliable two-way centre who will improve our strength and depth down the middle immediately. He is good in the faceoff dot and is a solid penalty killer, two areas of need we currently have on our team. His hockey IQ is also a big asset and we believe he will fit in nicely with our group." Allvin said last week.

With Kampf set to enter his second week with the Vancouver Canucks organization, the Czech forward is giving a bit of insight into why he chose to come play with his group over any other NHL team.

Last week, Kampf sat down with Chris Faber on the Canucks Insider Podcast to discuss a number of topics including his career up to this point, what he brings to the Canucks and ultimately, why he chose to sign in Vancouver rather than another club, with several teams showing interest in him after he became an unrestricted free agent.
"I had [a] great conversation with Patrik and the coach, so [that] was [a] big factor in my decision. I'm happy I joined this team, [and] I can be here," Kämpf said.

He went on to add, "I just want to bring what I always had. Be good on the PK, winning the face off, and contribute [with] the offence too. Overall, I just want to play my game and help the team,"

While he's only appeared in two games for the Canucks so far, Kampf is already showing exactly why Patrik Allvin acquired him last weekend with a 56.7 faceoff percentage so far.
Kampf will look to continue to prove that the Canucks made the right decision by acquiring him as they host the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena tonight, with puck drop set for just after 6 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet One across Canada.
