The agent for Elias Pettersson, J.P. Barry, has responded to rumors regarding his client's future with the Vancouver Canucks organization with the deadline looming.
Over the last month, trade rumors have begun ramping up involving several members of the Vancouver Canucks as the team finally gets set to enter a rebuild, something fans have been calling for for quite some time now.
Amid their plans to rebuild, the Vancouver Canucks have informed teams around the league that they're willing to listen to offers on anyone, including star forward Elias Pettersson, who has seen his name enter the rumor mill over the last few weeks.
"There's a growing suspicion around the league that we will. I can just tell you from the volume of calls and the interest that the Vancouver Canucks have fielded that it feels like it's trending in that direction and that he's gaining some traction on the trade market." Seravalli said on Monday's edition of Frankly Hockey.

There is one major roadblock preventing the Vancouver Canucks from trading Elias Pettersson and his massive $11.6 million cap hit - a no-movement clause that kicked in ahead on July 1st, 2025.
That no-movement clause gives Elias Pettersson full control over his future and where he could go, if he's willing to be traded, but his agent J.P. Barry is pumping the breaks a bit regarding those rumors of a potential move.
During an appearance on Donnie & Dhali on Thursday, Elias Pettersson's agent commented on those persistent trade rumors, saying that he hasn't had any talks with GM Patrik Allvin about waiving the no-movement clause and that for now, his client is happy in Vancouver and committed to playing for the Canucks.
"I think he's happy. I mean, no one's happy when they're losing." Barry said.
He added, "He [Pettersson] committed to be there and try to make the best of it, and he's going to do that. I'm sure there's going to be all kinds of discussions at the end of this year about every player on that team."

However as everyone knows, things can change at the drop of a hat at this time of year and the Vancouver Canucks may get an offer for the Sundsvall, Sweden native that they can't refuse, but it'll all come down to Pettersson waiting his no-movement clause, something that is far from a guarantee at this moment.
