A former Vancouver Canucks goaltender has been released from his contract overseas two months into the 2025-26 season and is now looking for a new home.
The 2025-26 season just began a month ago for leagues here in North America, but overseas in Europe, the majority are already at the two-month mark and teams are starting to get a feel for where they could be in the standings ahead of the playoffs in the spring.
Among those that are already two months into their season is the Kontinental Hockey League which is home to several former Vancouver Canucks for the 2025-26 campaign including
including forward Daniel Sprong, Josh Leivo, among others and at one point, even goaltender Louis Domingue was suiting up with Sibir Novosibirsk before
having his contract terminated and returning to North America.
Another former Vancouver Canucks goaltender is officially looking for his next landing spot, either in Europe or North America, after being released from his contract with CSKA Moscow earlier this week.

In a press release on the KHL's website, the league announced that CSKA Moscow has decided to release former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Spencer Martin from his contract.
Note: the following is translated from Russian
"CSKA Moscow has terminated its contract with goaltender Spencer Martin. He joined the club before the start of the 2025/26 season and played 14 games for the Army Men, winning five with a .905 save percentage and a 2.69 goals-against average." the KHL said.
Martin, a native of Oakville, Ontario, left North America this summer for the first time in his professional hockey career and
signed a two-year contract with CSKA Moscow where he joined Daniel Sprong along with other former NHLers including Denis Gurianov, Vitaly Abramov and Nikita Nesterov.
Martin's time with CSKA Moscow wasn't terrible as the former Canuck sported a 5-6-2 record in 14 games along with a 2.69 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and two shutouts, however earlier this month, the club
decided to place him on waivers and will be going with
Dmitry Gamzin as their starting netminder for the foreseeable future.
It's unclear where the 30-year-old netminder will end up next, but after a solid 2024-25 campaign with the Chicago Wolves, it wouldn't come as a shock to anyone if he were to end up back in the American Hockey League.
