The Canucks dealt with their top contract renewal when they signed Elias Pettersson to a massive extension, they've now moved on to Filip Hronek, and by the looks of it, a positive conclusion isn't near.

Hronek was an absolute stud in the first 60 games of this campaign. Alongside the Canucks' Norris Nominee defenseman Quinn Hughes, he managed a career season in just about every aspect of the game. The Canucks acquired the much-needed right-handed defenseman at last year's deadline, knowing that this day would come.
As soon as Pettersson had been extended, Allvin moved on to Hronek, and thus far, it appears that no progression has been made since neither party is remotely close regarding AAV. Frank Seravalli's been saying it since the Christmas break that Filip Hronek was going to ask for an extension that had an AAV starting with an 8. Rick Dhaliwal most recently confirmed the ask, but also added that Hronek's clan wasn't ready to bulge:
Dhaliwal: Last I heard the ask by Hronek is not going down. It's strong at 8 mill per season.

It's already been stated that the Canucks weren't close to the idea of moving his rights if they were unable to make a deal work. The way he handled himself and played the regular season's last stretch and the playoffs, it's hard to believe that the Canucks will give the $8M he asks for. Especially since they weren't keen to the idea when Hronek was almost a point per game defenseman back in January.
