Injury Update: The Worst is Confirmed for Vancouver Canucks Defenseman Derek Forbort
Originally viewed as a minor injury, the Vancouver Canucks have announced the worst for Derek Forbort as they place him in the injured reserve (IR)
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Derek Forbort has been placed on Injured Reserve and D Elias Pettersson has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) There have no been many updates or information released on what exactly Forbort's injury is, nor the extent, but it apparently it is serious enough to send him to the injured reserve.
Forbort left practice last week with an undisclosed injury, that has kept him sitting in the press box watching his team play for the last consecutive 6 games.
It feels like Derek Forbort can't catch a break as he missed some time just before he got injured when he took a leave of absence for personal reasons.
To offset his absence, the Vancouver Canucks elected to call up defenceman prospect Elias Pettersson, who has not relation with the upstart forward of the same name.
The 32-year-old veteran has skated in only 4 games this season, recording just 1 assist and a +/- rating of -2.
As of right now, names such as Erik Brannstrom are really steeping up to fill the holes, but it does not change the fact that we wish Derek Forbort a speedy recovery.
