Insider calls out Elias Pettersson and the Canucks
The Canucks held their post-season interviews last week, and some players revealed the extent of injuries they'd been dealing with. Elias Pettersson took the Canucks by surprise with his revelation.
Frank Seravalli took another shot at the Canucks and Elias Pettersson on his Daily Faceoff Podcast, and it appears that he may hold a grudge against the city and the team. During his season exit interview, Pettersson revealed that he'd been playing through an injury for the better part of the season's second half and the playoffs. According to Seravalli, Pettersson's excuse for not playing up to his level made everyone look bad:
''I firmly believe his injury excuse... really caught the Canucks by surprise. I think they felt like there were 15 other players playing through more than he was playing through. It became an excuse that really makes everyone else look bad.''
Pettersson's production drastically dropped in the second half of the season, and he wasn't playing up to his level. The superstar Swede revealed that tendinitis had slowed him down since the beginning of the 2024 season.
Were the Canucks disgruntled with him after he revealed the injury? Moments earlier, during a pre-game media availability, Tocchet was asked live whether or not Pettersson was injured, and according to him, he wasn't. Were the Canucks lying, or did they think he wasn't hurt enough to bother mentioning it?
