LATEST | J.T. Miller and Rick Tocchet update on his injury after he left the team's bench during the game
J.T. Miller once again proved his importance to the Canucks' success when the team bounced back and won at home against the Sabres.
Miller has had a tough stretch for the last while, constantly the victim of hard, cheap hits or pucks hitting him in the wrong places. The Canucks' number 9 once again briefly left the team's bench to get presumably checked out. Miller was in pain after he had blocked a shot with his foot, but he made sure to address the situation in the media scrum:
JT Miller starts his scrum by telling us his ankle's fine before anyone can ask.
Tocchet also gave an update in his regard. During his post-game interview, the Head Coach told the reporters that he liked how the team handled the adversity and how they battled. He was asked about how he felt when Miller left for the team's locker room:
''The trainer came back and said (he's coming back), which was big; it's never fun when one of your best players is out. When he gets a shot, you think the worst, you know. I think he's going to get checked tomorrow''
The fact that Miller did come back to finish the game should indicate a positive outcome. At his current pace, Miller should break the 100-point mark for the first time in his career. He had 99 in 2021-2022, and the team's last 13 games will be crucial if he intends to break his high.
