It's been an incredible season so far for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, who recently tied his career-high in points with 76 and has an opportunity to set a new benchmark for himself on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
Over the last week, the National Hockey League has been polling their writers on who they think will win individual awards at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season and today was the Norris Trophy, which is handed out annually to the best defenceman.
Hughes received 12 first-place votes among 14 writers on NHL.com, who believe he will take home the Norris Trophy this season. Cale Makar and New York Islanders blueliner Noah Dobson came in at second and third respectively in the voting.
Hughes, 24, leads all defenceman in the National Hockey League in assists and points this season. In 66 games, he's put up 76 points (13 goals, 63 assists), 28 penalty minutes and is a plus-36.
