22-Year-Old Mason McTavish's fate with the Vancouver Canucks has now been officially confirmed after signing a 6-Year Contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks.

Going into the NHL offseason, it was 100% clear that the Vancouver Canucks were searching for a serious upgrade at the second line center position.
But, for a vast amount of reasons that were in and out of their control, General Manager Patrik Allvin wasn't able to land the "big one" before training camp.
All summer long Vancouver was linked to Anaheim Ducks star forward Mason McTavish, especially due to the contract statement between him and the Anaheim Ducks.
According to Patrick Johnston of The Province, the Vancouver Canucks were front runners at one point, but may have not had the right assets in order to complete the swap.
"Hence their continued interest in Roslovic, as well as their interest in Mason McTavish, the Anaheim Ducks' restricted free agent. Of course adding McTavish, the third-overall pick in the 2021 draft, will be very hard: he's a highly-regarded player with huge upside and will cost a big price in trade, perhaps more than the Canucks can afford." Johnston said.

Mason McTavish's six-year deal with #NHLDucks carries a $7 million AAV
A trade was always going to be the way the Canucks were going to land him, but with his deal carrying an average annual value of $7 million, the Canucks definitely do not have the players nor cap space to make it a reality.
The 22-year-old had 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points in 76 games last season with the Ducks.
