A trade proposal was suggested this week that would see the Vancouver Canucks acquire a former first round pick who has 750+ games of experience under his belt.
The Vancouver Canucks are continuing to weigh their options on the National Hockey League's trade market, with the team's current injury situation creating a bit of an urgency for Patrik Allvin to add someone relatively soon.
"I think there's always been an urgency (to add that player) and that's been something we looked into all summer. I would say this probably makes me look at other things I might not have looked at before. Just take a different view. My job is to look at the options, short-term and long-term and what makes sense for us." Allvin said according to Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet.
Trying to complete a trade at this time of year is never easy, but a recent trade proposal suggests the Vancouver Canucks bring in a 750+ game NHL veteran who could help shore up the team's middle-six forward group.
Trade proposal sees Vancouver Canucks acquire former first round pick
In a recent article for Heavy.com, Nestor Quixtan shared how he thinks the Vancouver Canucks could go about filling the holes in their forward group due to their injury situation.
Quixtan proposes a trade that would see the Vancouver Canucks acquire forward Kevin Hayes from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Guillaume Brisebois - who is currently out indefinitely with a lower-body injury, as well as a fourth round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
"Hayes has slid down the Penguins' depth chart over the years. He's now a fixture in the Penguins' bottom six, leading to speculation about a potential trade. While Hayes' best days are likely behind him, he could be a decent stopgap solution for the Canucks." Quixtan said.

Hayes, a native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, has yet to suit up for the Penguins this season due to an injury, but is expected to return to the lineup at some point in late-October or early-November.
The 33-year-old has skated in 777 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins, amassing 437 points (181 goals, 256 assists) and 225 penalty minutes.
From the stand point of adding another veteran presence to the dressing room, it wouldn't be a bad idea picking up Kevin Hayes in a deal with the Penguins, however, holding Patrik Allvin back is the Canucks' limited cap space, with the winger earning $7,142,858 this season before becoming a UFA on Canada Day.
