Patrik Allvin and free agency: Canucks have set their eyes on their next target
The Canucks spent a lot of money when free agency opened, and according to sources, Allvin spent it wisely.
Récent reports have indicated that the Canucks' GM was still very active on the market, and a vast update emerged in that regard earlier. Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal broke the news that Patrik Allvin had shown interest in the scoring winger Daniel Sprong.
F Daniel Sprong is still available.
Sources say Canucks have interest.
Not only are the Canucks interested, but they are very aggressively trying to make it work. Sprong indeed found his niche over his last two NHL seasons. In 2022-2023, with the Kraken, the Canadian scored 21 goals and 46 points in 66 games. With the Red Wings in 2023-2024, he scored 18 goals and 43 points in 76 games while playing the bottom 6 minutes and having second power play opportunities.
The interest in Spring is high for those asking
Rutherford, Allvin, and Tocchet's interest in each other goes back to their Penguins' origins. He was the Pens' second-round pick in 2015.
Another fact that may help the Canucks' chase, Daniel Sprong is also represented by the same agency as Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, who just signed a massive deal in Vancouver.
Daniel Sprong has never played a full 82-game season, but his career average for goals over an 82-game pace is 20.5 per season.
If the #Canucks can get him at a discounted price like he's signed in the past, that would qualify as finding good value in the margins.
