Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin added some depth to the team's roster this summer, with one of the names he brought in being Kiefer Sherwood. The Canucks signed him to a two-year deal worth $1.5 million per season .
If it wasn't for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes speaking up earlier this summer, the team may not have signed 29-year-old Sherwood.
In a recent interview with Sportsnet, Hughes said that he went to Patrik Allvin and said that they should sign Kiefer Sherwood. Hughes added that playing against Sherwood in the playoffs last season showed him how competitive he really is and that he's a player needed to help win a Stanley Cup.
Statistically, the 2023-24 campaign was the best of Sherwood's career in the National Hockey League. In 68 games with the Nashville Predators, the Columbus native had 27 points (ten goals, 17 assists), 41 penalty minutes and was a plus-17. He went on to add one goal in six games during their first-round series against the Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver Canucks fans are going to love what Kiefer Sherwood can bring to the lineup this season. He's fast, competitive and works hard day in, day out. He'll likely start the season on the Canucks' fourth line, potentially with Pius Suter and Danton Heinen. It should be another exciting year for all Canucks fans with the amount of depth the team has and the potential to make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
