In a game between the AHL Bridgeport Islanders and Charlotte Checkers on April 5, forward Adam Beckman throws a scary hit on referee during the play.

AHL forward Adam Beckman has been suspended indefinitely for 10 games after slamming referee into the boards

While there didn't seem to be any intent to injure, it was quite a violent collision. Beckman was quick to check on the referee and seemed apologetic.
The referee was able to get back on his feet under his own power and, although visibly shaken, appeared to have avoided any serious injury.
Gino Hard posted the clip of the dangerous collision on X ealier today.
Adam Beckman of the Bridgeport Islanders (AHL) has been suspended 10 games after this play for abuse of official.
Noah Strang from DH Sports writes that Beckman had just 26 penalty minutes in 55 AHL games this season and is listed at 6-foot and 182 pounds, with no history of being a dirty player.
While Beckman was not given a penalty on the play, he did receive a lengthy suspension after the game.
Rule 40.3 in the AHL's rule book says that any player who «deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner» should be suspended for 10 games. Intent does not matter, and therefore, Beckman was handed a 10-game suspension. The suspension does not prevent the Islanders from calling him up to play NHL games. -Strang

Strang also writes that with only five games remaining in his team's season, Beckman has been suspended through the end of the year, covering the next five games he's on an AHL roster. As a restricted free agent after this season, it's still unclear when exactly those five games will be served.
Beckman has recorded seven points in 12 games with the AHL's Bridgeport Islanders, who currently sit at the bottom of the league with a dismal 15-45-7 record. They're 15 points behind the second-worst team in the AHL standings.

The 23-year-old was originally selected by the Minnesota Wild in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He appeared in 23 games for the Wild before being traded to the New Jersey Devils, and was later dealt to the New York Islanders earlier this year.
