The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety will reportedly be taking a look at Tom Wilson's hit on Sunday on Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil.

Vancouver's third stop of their five-game road trip was in Washington, DC as the Canucks, who were looking for their third straight victory, took on Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals.
Adam Foote's group were able to pull off the win in Washington, downing the Capitals by a score of 4 to 3, but didn't do so unscathed.
Close to the end of the first period, Filip Chytil was on the receiving end of an open-ice hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson and was forced to leave the game, while the latter surprisingly went unpenalized.
"Tom Wilson lays a heavy hit on Filip Chytil.

Chytil went to the dressing room, and after review, there was no penalty on the play." Sportsnet said.

In a post on social media shortly after Vancouver's win, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali reported that he's hearing the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety will be reviewing Tom Wilson's hit on Filip Chytil.
"Hearing DOPS is still going to take a close look at the Tom Wilson hit, the expectations at this time are that the officials correctly called the hit as a legal play." Dhaliwal said.
For Chytil, who has a history of head injuries and concussions, it certainly didn't look good and while there was no official update from Adam Foote or the club post-game, it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if he's out for the final two games of the road trip.
Given Tom Wilson's history, several Vancouver Canucks fans on social media were not happy at all with the hit and that no penalty was called on the play.
"He looks at the player the entire time, he was looking to hurt on this play. He never even looks at the puck, dirty-late hit." @HoldenHawse said.
"The hit was late and predator. Context matters. The way the game was going for the Capitals and Wilsons past offences you have to suspend him. If this was on McDavid the NHL throws the book at him." @angrycanucks said.
"definitely a penalty, late hit, interference for taking 2 strides after the puck left. blind side hit with elbow to body and shoulder to head. all bad" @michaelegger said.
The Vancouver Canucks won't face the Washington Capitals again until January 21st when they make the trip to Rogers Arena, but there's no questions that fireworks will ensue as Tom Wilson may have to answer the bell.
