Vancouver Canucks Announce Starting Goalie For Matchup With the Colorado Avalanche
As the Vancouver Canucks faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche tonight, head coach Rick Tocchet has confirmed who will be starting in net to try and finally get a win on home ice.
The Vancouver Canucks performance on home ice in Rogers Arena has been downright terrible, and after their 5-1 defeat by the Boston Bruins, their record has now "improved" to 5-7-4.
They have just five wins in 16 games at Rogers Arena, with a 5-7-4 home-ice record. That puts them tied with the Anaheim Ducks, Nashville Predators, and St. Louis Blues for the fewest home-ice wins in the NHL.
Reports came out that there a certain players on the Vancouver Canucks are struggling to get invested into the game, especially when playing at home, and now Rick Tocchet is doing everything in his power to give them the best opportunity to win.
Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet announces Thatcher Demko as starting goalie for matchup against the Colorado Avalanche
The Vancouver Canucks are still without star goalie Kevin Lankinen as he and defenseman Derek Forbort are dealing with the flu, which has been making its way through the Canucks dressing room.
"Rick Tocchet says the #Canucks have an illness going through their group right now, and that's why Forbort and Lankinen are absent and not expected to play tonight." Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet said."
With the illness keeping Lankinen off the ice, head coach Rick Tocchet has confirmed that Thatcher Demko will make his second consecutive start, while Arturs Silovs will be backing him up.
Since returning from knee injury that kept Thatcher Demko away from the team for a lengthy period of time, it was expected that there would be rust, and it has been a rough go to say the least.
In 2 starts since returning, Demko has allowed 9 goals on 53 shots, achieving a below average 4.47 goals against average and .830 save percentage.
