The Vancouver Canucks have announced a roster move on Tuesday morning involving a 21-year-old goaltending prospect that's spent time in the AHL & ECHL.
While the National Hockey League's roster freeze for the 2026 Winter Olympics is currently in effect, some moves can still be completed such as AHL assignments, for certainly players, and waiver placements, although they wouldn't need to report to their new club until today, February 17th.
Just after the freeze went into effect, the Vancouver Canucks assigned three to the American Hockey League - forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki, defenseman Victor Mancini and goaltender Nikita Tolopilo - in order to get them some game action during the Olympic break, while Jiri Patera was called up as two netminders are required to be on an active NHL roster at all times.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today the following Olympic break transactions. F Jonathan Lekkerimäki, D Victor Mancini, and G Nikita Tolopilo have been to assigned to Abbotsford (AHL), and G Jiri Patera has been recalled from Abbotsford under emergency conditions." the Canucks said on X earlier this month.

In a social media post on Tuesday, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that the Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned goaltender Ty Young to them from the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings, the latter of whom he's split the starts with Jonathan Lemieux.
"The following transaction has occurred:
Vancouver (NHL) re-assigns G Ty Young from Kalamazoo (ECHL) to Abbotsford" the Abbotsford Canucks said.

Young, a native of Coaldale, Alberta, was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Canucks and is currently in the middle of his second professional season with the organization after parts of four years in the Western Hockey League.
Much like last season, Young has spent time in both Abbotsford and Kalamazoo, but has looked much better down in the ECHL this season than in the AHL, with the defending Calder Cup champions currently sitting in Pacific Division.
In 13 games with Kalamazoo, Young has posted a 7-5-1 record with a 3.26 goals against average and an .896 save percentage, while in seven AHL games with Abbotsford, he's gone 0-7-0 with a 4.75 goals against average and a save percentage of .840.
Abbotsford will be back in action on Wednesday night as they open up a five-game road trip against the Ontario Reign, AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, but it's unclear at this time if it'll be Ty Young who will get the start or Nikita Tolopilo.
