Vancouver Canucks Forward Conor Garland Set to Also Take Leave from Team Tonight
With the Vancouver Canucks announcing today that J.T. Miller will be taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, it has also been reported that Conor Garland may also step away for tonight's game.
With all of the attention on the news surrounding J.T. Miller, it could have gone unnoticed but it was reported that Canucks winger Conor Garland was also not at morning practice.
Clearly the speculation started to run rampant but the reasons for his absence are not nearly as concerning and also unrelated to the leave by Miller.
Vancouver Canucks Winger Conor Garland A Game Time Decision
It was confirmed by head coach Rick Tocchet that there is a very good chance Conor Garland will not be dressing for to guys game as him and his wife are expecting their first baby.
Rick Tocchet says Conor Garland might be welcoming his first child today.
Not sure if he will play tonight.
Both Conor Garland and J.T. Miller have been the most consistent and reliable forwards for the Canucks so far this season.
Between the two of them, they have a combined 29 points, and rank in the top-three in Vancouver Canucks scoring.
Now, the Canucks will be entering their matchup with the New York Rangers with 3 of their best forwards, as Brock Boeser is still out with an injury and J.T. Miller taking his leave of absence today.
With out them, head coach Rick Tocchet has asked his players in smaller roles to step up to the plate and give extra effort in order to pick up the slack for their missing stars.
Elias Pettersson relayed the same message to the media at pre-game skate.
«Everybody has got to step up. Opportunity to step up and get chances. It will take a whole team effort tonight,» said Elias Pettersson.
