Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin revealed that he met with Elias Pettersson this summer in Sweden, hoping for big bounce back for their star forward.
As the Vancouver Canucks inch closer to the start of training camp all eyes will be on Elias Pettersson to see how he's looking ahead of what is expected to be a monster year for the Swedish forward.
Last season was certainly one that Pettersson will want to forget, as he dealt with two injuries - one to his knee last summer that hurt his ability to train and another towards the end of the regular season, along with inconsistent play and feud with now-former teammate J.T. Miller.
Throughout the summer, Pettersson has been very vocal about wanting to bounce back, going as far as saying that he's out for revenge after last year's disappointment.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.
Patrik Allvin details meeting he had in Sweden with Elias Pettersson this summer
During a recent interview with Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet, Patrik Allvin revealed that while back home in Sweden this summer, he took the time to meet with Elias Pettersson, who is excited about the fresh start and a new opportunity ahead of himself this coming season.
Allvin says that he believes Elias Pettersson has matured quite a bit since the start of the 2024-25 season, especially by taking ownership of his performances.
"He was very much turning the page and moving forward. He's excited. He made a trip over here (in May) to meet with Adam and a couple of other players and he wants to take his game to another level." Allvin said.
He added, "I think every player learns what they need to do to be successful in the league. They tweak the way they do things in order to get better. Being a pro athlete today, you can't just do the same things over and over. You want to find ways to get better and I think that's the same thing with Elias, too. I think he has matured. I think he takes ownership (for his play) and he's very excited to come back and compete with the guys."

Everyone from Vancouver Canucks fans, coaches, management and players, even Evander Kane, are very excited and looking forward to seeing what Elias Pettersson has up his sleeve this season and while putting up 100+ points would be a massive boost to the club's playoff chances, to temper those expectations a bit, being in the 75-80+ point range, likely around a point-per-game would constitute as a successful season for the Sundsvall, Sweden native.
