Some potential first round draft targets have begun to emerge for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks, if they opt to keep the pick rather than trading it for immediate help.

On Monday night, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin found out where they'll be selecting during the first round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, which is set for June 27th in Los Angeles, California.
To no one's surprise, the Vancouver Canucks didn't win the Draft Lottery, meaning that they'll remain at 15th overall, a spot they're quite familiar from back in 2022 when they selected Swedish forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki.

Potential draft targets begin to emerge for Vancouver Canucks

In a recent article on The Province, Ben Kuzma took a look at five potential draft targets for the Vancouver Canucks to consider, if the team decides to keep the pick rather than trading it away.
The first player mentioned by Kuzma is the sharpshooting Justin Carbonneau (RW) from the QMHJL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, who finished his third season in the league with 46 goals and 89 points in 62 games, following that up with three goals in six games during the playoffs.
Vancouver's prospect pool lacks an elite offensive talent and that's someone Justin Carbonneau could be for the Canucks down the line after another season in the QMJHL and a year or two in Abbotsford (AHL).
Kashawn Aitcheson (D) of the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts is the second player mentioned by Kuzma and is the teammate of a pair of Vancouver Canucks prospects - Riley Patterson and Anthony Romani.
Aitcheson took his game to a whole other level this season in Barrie and was a strong two-way, physical presence on the Colts' blueline throughout the year and during their playoff run to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Toronto native finished the year with 59 points (26 goals, 33 assists) in 64 regular season games and 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 16 playoff games.
"Tough and mean competitive defender who makes you pay for every inch in defensive zone and goes out of his way to intimidate opponents. Could be insulating defender on second pairing when he remains disciplined in defensive habits." Scout Shane Malloy said to Ben Kuzma.

Malcolm Spence (LW) of the OHL's Erie Otters, Sascha Boumedienne (D) of Boston University and Logan Hensler (D) of the University of Wisconsin were the other three names suggested by Kuzma.
