Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood has earned some major recognition from his club this week for his red-hot start to the 2025-26 NHL season.

While the Vancouver Canucks' 2025-26 season hasn't gone as fans or even the team was hoping, there's still a long way to go and plenty of opportunity for Adam Foote's group to turn things around and one big surprise so far this year has been the play of forward Kiefer Sherwood.
Sherwood, who is in the final year of his contract and could be a trade chip for Patrik Allvin later in the season if things continue to go south, has drawn some praise from his General Manager recently.
"Well, it's still early here. We've played I believe 16 games? Kiefer has been a good player for us. He plays his role really well and he's a guy that can play different positions in the lineup and I think he's effective in the bottom-six when he plays his role with intensity and finishes checks and brings the energy everyday. So we're very happy with him here. We'll see. I only have so much money with the cap, so at the end of the day that'll dictate if we can afford players or not." Allvin said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Kiefer Sherwood is the recipient of the Molson Cup after putting up nine goals in 12 games during the month of October.
"The Molson Cup is back!

This historic trophy recognizes a #Canucks player for their outstanding on-ice performance, including previous winners like Bure, McLean, and Näslund.

This month's recipient scored 9 goals and 0 assists in 12 games in October. Congrats Kiefer Sherwood!" the Canucks said on X.
Sherwood, a native of Columbus, Ohio, is setting himself for a big payday next summer, whether it's with the Vancouver Canucks or another National Hockey League, with reports suggesting that he could be looking at $5 million annually, if he's able to sustain his current level of play for the remainder of the season.
"The Vancouver Canucks have not yet spoken with Kiefer Sherwood's camp about an extension, but the price tag is climbing with each passing game. Speaking with various league sources this week, Sherwood's price tag may start with a 5, as in his next AAV may be in the $5 million range if he keeps producing offensively and physically this season." David Pagnotta said recently.

In 18 games this season, the 30-year-old Sherwood has registered 12 points (11 goals, one assist), 12 penalty minutes, 79 hits and is a minus-two while averaging 17:39 of ice time per night.
