The Vancouver Canucks are desperate for some help up the middle, and now that the Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Center David Kampf on waivers, the Canucks will be looking to claim him.

The Canucks have lost a lot of depth up the middle after injuries to after injuries to Filip Chytil and Teddy Blueger.
"Chytil, who has unfortunately dealt with his fair share of concussion issues throughout his NHL career, left their game on October 19th after he was on the receiving end of an open-ice hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson."-Jaxon

Kampf reportedly heading to Canucks after being put on waivers.

Daniel Lucente of Hockey Latest has reported on the interest in Kampf from the Canucks. The Czech forward was not receiving enough opportunity in Toronto despite injuries to Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz. Which built a rough relationship and was therefore put on waivers.
"Kampf is in the third year of a $9.6 million contract, where he earns $2.4 million per season. He started this season playing in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies after Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube cut him during training camp."-Lucente

Kampf had no desire to stay in the AHL, and left the Marlies the Maple Leafs AHL affiliate, to decide if he even wanted to keep playing. The Leafs therefore suspended him without pay, before finally placing him on waivers. The Canucks are looking for an emergency center and Kampf would slot in perfectly.
"NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal revealed today that the Canucks are reportedly very interested in Kampf, and they will be in on his services. Social media and avid Canucks follower Taj also confirmed that the Canucks have heavy interest."-Lucente

This likely won't turn the team around by any means, Kampf is no game breaker, but it will help ease off some pressure from the current centers carrying the load. Also for some players like Lukas Reichel who are forced to play center can move back to their natural positions.

Would David Kampf provide a big impact for the Vancouver Canucks if they were to claim him off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs?
