The Vancouver Canucks reportedly spoke with a Western Conference team last month about a potential trade involving forward Dakota Joshua, who may be on the block.

Earlier this month, a report circulated from Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali that suggested Dakota Joshua's name is out there in the rumor mill this summer.
"I really am hearing the Canucks are souring on Dakota Joshua for some odd reason. His name is out there." Dhaliwal said.

Joshua's name being mentioned in trade rumors this summer makes a bit of sense, especially given if the team wants to add a second line centerman, they'll need to move out some money and it looks like Patrik Allvin has had talks with at least one team regarding the 29-year-old.

Insider says Vancouver Canucks had trade talks with Western Conference team regarding Dakota Joshua

One team that the Vancouver Canucks have been rumored to be speaking with earlier this offseason is the Minnesota Wild, as the B.C. club attempted to acquire Marco Rossi before the NHL Entry Draft, but had their trade offer, which included the 15th overall pick and a roster player, rejected.
According to David Pagnotta, the Canucks and Wild also had trade talks involving Dakota Joshua and that it was a separate deal that was discussed between the two sides and that he was not involved in the offer for Marco Rossi.
Joshua, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, has been with the Vancouver Canucks organization since the summer of 2022 when he signed as an unrestricted free agent.
He quickly became a fan favourite, playing a gritty, bottom-six role, but has also contributed offensively, registering 69 points in 199 games as a member of the Vancouver Canucks.
A few days before he was set to become a free agent in the summer of 2024, the Vancouver Canucks inked him to a four-year contract extension, which comes with a cap hit of $3.25 million US and as mentioned, if Patrik Allvin needs to move money at some point in the offseason, it looks like Joshua could be a candidate to be dealt.
