A Vancouver Canucks top goaltending prospect has earned a big honour after his strong start to the 2025-26 campaign in the Ontario Hockey League.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin appears to have struck gold when he selected goaltender Aleksei Medvedev in the second round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft back in late June.
Medvedev was coming off a solid first year with the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights in 2024-25, one that saw him win the J. Ross Robertson Cup as league champions and the Memorial Cup after sporting an impressive 22-9-2 record in the regular season.
After a strong showing at the team's Development Camp in early July, the Vancouver Canucks signed the Russian netminder to a three-year, entry-level contract, which gave him an added confidence boost as he returned to London for a second season, where he's been light out thus far.

With Aleksei Medvedev taking over the starting reigns for the London Knights this season, it comes with a lot of responsibility and expectations too, with the club hoping to repeat as OHL champions despite not having Easton Cowan or Sam Dickinson on their roster as they're currently with the Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks, respectively.
The Knights sit fifth in the OHL's Western Conference as of Tuesday morning and a big reason for that is the play of Aleksei Medvedev, who was honoured by the league on Monday.
In a post on social media, it was announced that Aleksei Medvedev has been named OHL Goaltender of the Week for October 27th to November 2nd after putting up a 2-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals against average and a .970 save percentage.
"Aleksei Medvedev was a road warrior this weekend ⚔️

The @Canucks prospect made 65 saves and picked up two wins, earning the @MaryBrowns #OHLGOTW honours!" the OHL said.
"Medsy's world and we're just living in it

#Canucks" the Knights said on X.
The St. Petersburg, Russia native has a 6-1-1 record in eight games with the London Knights this season to go along with a 1.86 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.
There's no doubt that the Vancouver Canucks have a potential draft steal on their hands in Aleksei Medvedev and it's going to be interesting to see if he'll be able to sustain this level of play for the entire 2025-26 season.
