2-time Stanley Cup champion named Head Coach & GM of BCHL team
A two-time Stanley Cup champion has been named Head Coach and GM of a BCHL club on Tuesday.
In a post on social media, the Surrey Eagles, who won the Fred Page Cup in 2023-24 as British Columbia Hockey League champions, announced that they've hired two-time Stanley Cup champion Scott Gomez as their next Head Coach and General Manager.
"The Surrey Eagles are excited to announce that Scott Gomez has been hired as our new head coach & GM!

Gomez, 44, spent 15 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators where he had 756 points (181 goals, 175 assists) in 1,079 games.
After his playing career ended, Gomez turned his attention to coaching and spent two seasons behind the bench as an assistant with the New York Islanders in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Last summer, Gomez was hired by the Surrey Eagles as an assistant coach, but has now been promoted to Head Coach and General Manager following the departure of Cam Keith.
