BREAKING | The package the Bruins had on the table for Horvat is revealed
The Canucks have just traded away their captain and top centerman to the New York Islanders. Patrik Allvin later referred to the package he was getting for Bo Horvat as the equivalent of three first-round picks.
Though an interesting statement from Kevin Weekes left the Hockey world quite perplexed.
«I'm told from another club that was highly interested and involved in the @Canucks Horvat deal, that Van didn't shop the offer, and locked in on the @NYIslanders package»
Allvin and Rutherford were pretty much sold on the Islanders' package since they didn't even entertain any other offers afterwards. No one confirmed who the team highly involved was, though Nick Goss of NBC Sports Boston knew for a fact that the Bruins held Horvat high on their list:
«One of Jake DeBrusk, Pavel Zacha, or Trent Frederic, plus Fabian Lysell and a 2023 first-rounder would be comparable to Beauvillier, Raty, and a first-rounder. That would have been a very steep price for a B's organization that lacks elite prospects as well as high-end young players at the NHL level.» Were the Bruins really willing to pay that price for Horvat? Is that deal really better than what the Canucks got from the Islanders?
In the end, the Islanders' 1st Round Pick will most likely be higher up than the one the Bruins could've offered.
