BREAKING | Vancouver's WHL club hires former NHL defenceman as Head Coach
The Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League has announced ninth head coach in franchise history.
On their Twitter account on Thursday, the organization shared that they've hired former NHL defenceman Manny Viveiros as their next bench boss.
Viverios, 57, appeared in 29 games in the NHL, all with the Minnesota North Stars. He had a lengthy playing career, the majority of which he spent in Austria with various different teams and even gained citizenship while playing there and represented the country at the 2005 World Hockey Championship.
After retiring during the 2006-07 season, Viverios turned his attention to coaching and even spent one season behind the bench for the Edmonton Oilers in 2018-19 as an assistant.
Most recently, Viverios was the head coach of the AHL's Henderson Golden Knights, Vegas' affiliate, a role he held for three seasons.
