BREAKING: Worst confirmed for the Blues top two players sent on IR
The St. Louis Blues have been navigating the 0.500 bar since the season has begun in hopes of reaching the playoffs and they've just been struck with bad news.
Two of their top players, Ryan O'Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko, were just put on the injury reserve. The two players are arriving at the end of major deals with $7.5M AAVs.
Their prolonged absence will put the Blues' strong offense in a tough spot. Both O'Reilly and Tarasenko were expected to be trade baits for the upcoming deadline and if the Blues are out of playoffs contention, they will definitely be on the move.
Their most recent injuries will affect their value though and could potentially make them available for a lesser price. O'Reilly is already on pace for his worst numbers in the last 11 years with 0.43/pts per game and a minus-28 differential, tough spot for one the best 2-way centerman in the league. Tarasenko on the other hand, has been living up to his standards. The Russian forward has 29 points through his first 34 games with a minus-13 differential.
With two of their top players out and a relatively young core, should the Blues consider being sellers at the next deadline in order to build for next year?
