Canucks captain Bo Horvat has found himself in a tough spot. He has been the team's heart and soul for the better part of the nine years he's been with the club. Currently having a career here during the last season on his contract puts him in a tough spot.

Former NHL player and Canucks' legend Trevor Linden was on Sekeres and Price last week. Linden was the team's 1st pick (2nd overall) all the way back in 1988, stood tall for 10 years with the team, and had the Captainship burden for 7 of those.

"I feel for him...I was in the same boat: you build relationships, you have your family here, this is your home...you are loyal to the organization...it's gotta be tough."

Linden shared how he felt back when he was in the same spot. Back in 1998 the Canucks chose to part ways with Linden who had also been the team captain at that time. He was involved in a trade as part of a 3-piece-package to the Islanders. The return being a young Todd Bertuzzi, a young defenseman in Bryan McCabe and a 3rd round pick which later became Jarkko Ruutu.

This trade certainly defined the following years both for the Canucks and for Linden who was traded at the peak of his form, he went on to play for 3 clubs over the following 5 years before he renewed with his origins in Vancouver.

When you look back, and compare to the portrait that's being drawn up in Bo Horvat's you can exclude the possibility that it's trending in the same direction. Do you still have hope that the Canucks will re-sign Horvat?
