Salming was a top-end Swedish defenseman that spent most of his American career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Through 17 seasons, the Swede superstar played parts in 1148 regular season games and had a stunning record of 787 points (150 goals and 637 assists). During his time he was a Norris Trophy nominee on four occasions. In 1997, he was introduced to the Hockey Hall of Fame and the IIHF Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was recognized in the IIHF centennial All-Star team alongside the Edmonton Oilers' legend Wayne Gretzky.
