LATEST | Buffalo Sabres defenceman decides to leave North America
After returning to North America for the 2022-23 season following two years abroad, Buffalo Sabres defenceman Lawrence Pilut has decided to cross the Atlantic once again.
On Tuesday, Lausanne HC, a team in Switzerland's National League, announced that they've signed Lawrence Pilut to a two-year contract beginning next season.
Pilut, 27, signed with the Sabres in 2018 after several years in Sweden. Following two years splitting time between the Sabres and their AHL affiliate in Rochester, Pilut decided to leave North America and signed in the KHL with Traktor Chelyabinsk.
The Tingsryd, Sweden native returned to the Sabres organization ahead of the 2022-23 season, signing a one-year contract. In 17 games for the Sabres this year, Pilut had three points, while in 47 AHL games with Rochester, he put up 28 points.
