LATEST | Former BCHLer, Great Britain national team member passes away
Some sad news to report on in the hockey world on Thursday as former BCHLer and Great Britain national team member Mike Hammond has passed away following an one-vehicle accident in Canada.
"💙 Great Britain ice hockey and IHUK are devastated that forward Mike Hammond has passed away. Hammond died last night in a car accident in Canada. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all team-mates. RIP Hammy - we will never forget you."
The Victoria, British Columbia native spent parts of four seasons in the BCHL, before playing college hockey in Ontario at Lakehead University. Hammond also represented Great Britain on several occasions including the top division of the IIHF World Championship in 2019 and 2021.
Our thoughts are with Hammond's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
