Carlo Colaiacovo, now a retired player, who spent a total of 13 years in the NHL, took a rant on Twitter and stated what was wrong with the NHL :
Clearly, the NHL has taken a path that doesn't develop its market, though the fact that the cap hasn't risen in a few years, definitely doesn't help. Trades are harder to pull off, teams are hesitant with their money and now cap space is a truly powerful asset. Who would have thought that a point-per-game player like Max Pacioretty could ever be dealt for pocket change?
