LATEST | KHL superstar is set to be the next Andrei Kuzmenko
KHL superstar Maxim Tsyplakov has reportedly been drawing interest from a plethora of NHL clubs. While him and his agent will wait until season's end to make a decision on where to continue his career, the sniper draws many parallels and comparisons to Canucks forward Andrei Kuzmenko.
Tspylakov, 25, is the same age as Kuzmenko when he made his transition to the NHL. He currently boasts a whopping 22 goals in just 48 KHL games this season, good for 5th in the entire league. For reference, Kuzmenko finished his final KHL season with 20 goals in 45 games for SKA St. Petersburg.
The Spartak Moscow forward broke out last season, more than doubling his previous career-high point total, finishing with 25 points in 63 games. He has elevated his game even further this season.
While he currently draws interest from several teams such as the Coyotes, Bruins, Red Wings, and Maple Leafs, he will wait until the off-season to make a decision. Certainly the potential of an Andrei Kuzmenko trade increases the Canucks' chances of snagging the next young Russian star.
